Have you ever felt so out of shape that you just HAD to go work out in a gym?  I haven’t ever worked out in a gym.  I choose to work out at home.

I like to learn and try new and different things.  There are numerous resources available to us for just about any kind of learning experience.  I look around and see all the technology that we have – computers, iPods, TV, tutorials, CDs, videos and DVDs.  If I wanted to, I could go to a community college class to learn; there are tons of books in libraries and there’s a whole lot of surfing to be done on the internet.  But one of the best ways to learn I’ve found, is by OPE which simply means Other People’s Experiences.  (I learned this at a Business Seminar once.)

Beachbody DVDs

So where am I going with this?  From reading articles to talking with various people who have worked out in a gym, I concluded that I didn’t want to do that.  I’ve been fortunate enough to be a Stay-at-Home mom and am able to make my own schedule.  So I opted to have my own home gym workout space and use exercise DVDs and videos.  From a time perspective, I don’t have to drive somewhere and i don’t have to be on anyone else’s schedule (i.e. a waiting list for a particular machine or exercise equipment, a gym’s Open Hours, etc.).  I don’t have to concern myself about how clean (or yikes! unclean) the equipment is and I don’t have to feel pressured that I’m not  using my membership (which I hear is not cheap) if I couldn’t make it that day or week.  I don’t have little ones at home, but when I started out on my fitness journey, I did, so that meant I would have had to get a sitter.  And if I was self-conscious, I wouldn’t want to have other people see me working out.  For some people, these might not be concerns, but it was for me.

I like being able to pick a workout when I want to and then get at it and not have to drive anywhere 🙂  That was my biggest reason to choose to work out at home.

How about for you?  If you would like to start your fitness journey working out of your home gym with exercise DVDs, let me help you.  Together we can do this 🙂

Hi Wanda. I absolutely LOVE working at home as opposed to a gym. I don’t have to spend extra time driving to and from, don’t have to wait for machines and don’t have to worry about anyone watching me! Just pop in my DVD of choice and go to it!
