Spring has been deluding us since that groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil showed up however many weeks ago and told us it was right around the corner. So today when it seemed like it was here, I took my fitness outside – the temperature being a crisp 71 degrees and the sun shining brightly, I went for a walk on our gravel roads! I was only going to walk for 20 minutes to ‘warm up’ for my Les Mills Combat workout, but once I started walking, it felt so good I just kept going! Oh well, I had a HIIT Shock Plyo workout scheduled so I was still working my legs. No worries.
As you can see in the pictures, it felt like spring but it didn’t look at all like it. The best thing about being outside walking again was breathing in the fresh air & having the sun shine on me 🙂 Adversely, the schmell from the hog building half a mile from my house is something I can live without. (note: it was only non-fresh air for several yards walking by the building and only when I headed east) The ground is still a bit wet from the melting snow and tho it wasn’t messy muddy, the wet keeps the dust at bay so it was nice when the vehicles went by and I wasn’t left in a cloud of dust. I was able to pick up some beer cans on the roadside, but could not retrieve them from the ditches as it’s too muddy. We recycle the aluminum in my state, so thank you partyers & litterbugs! Oh yea, I saw some birds, but they weren’t their usual spring selves chirping at me cos they’re protecting their nests (I personally think it’s too early for nests). Some of you might wonder what’s the big deal but if you’ve seen the Alfred Hitchcock movie “The Birds” you’d know what I’m talking about. It’s not a good feeling when they hover over and follow me for several yards even when I’m walking in the middle of the road and not even close to the ditches and fence posts. I keep wondering when they will nosedive the top of my head!
Anyway, this turned out to be a very nice first outdoor spring workout and I have hope that before too long the grass will be green, the trees will be budding, the blooms will be blooming and we’ll be planting our vegetable gardens.
