I promised to post photos of our Maui vacation so here I am. This task is taking too long with all the other stuff I’m trying to get accomplished so this will be in 2 parts (maybe 3). First the beach photos.
I posted beach pictures of my Staycation 2 1/2 years ago and we pretty much went to the same ones this time plus a couple more. We went to the Sprecklesville beaches a few times. It should be noted that it is winter in Hawaii also so temperatures aren’t as warm as in the summer months – it was in the high 70s and mid 80s; thus the water is colder and the ocean is rougher on the North Shores. It was too cold for me, but Mister and our son in law were brave and went in. This is what we found at the first beach we went to on the east side of the airport.
One day Mister and I walked a total of 3 miles from Sprecklesville to the next beach called Baldwin Park and back. And on another day we reversed it and walked from Baldwin Park to Sprecklesville. There’s just something about walking on the beach that makes the walk seem so much more pleasant than walking on our gravel road in Iowa lol
Here are a couple shots of the beach we went to a couple times on the north side of the airport. This is Kanaha Beach where there’s always quite a few para sailers, paddle surfers, para surfers, etc.
After the kids arrived on Maui, we went to the southwest side of the island where the water was way calmer and the temperatures really HOT. That is where we got our tans the first day and sun burned the second day….from laying, walking and swimming at Big Beach. The guys went snorkeling too and saw some gorgeous underwater life.
We did a couple “tourist” things cos my son in law hadn’t been to Hawaii so we had to show him some good times. So on the road to Hana, we stopped at Keanae and checked out the local artists painting the scenery on the beach.
We also stopped at Hana Bay to eat lunch before heading to Oheo Gulch, otherwise known as the Seven Sacred Pools. Disappointingly, 4 of the 7 pools were dry, 1 was not very full and one looked like too much work to get to (higher up) so we only swam in one of them this time.
Ok, no telling when I’ll get to Part 2, but I will…no worries. Enjoy the photos here in the meantime 🙂
