I have been an empty nester for about 15 months and the last trip I took anywhere was 4 years ago. I flew three times in 2008 and got burnt out then didn’t want to fly anywhere in 2009. Our daughter announced her engagement in the spring of 2010 and got married in the summer of 2011 so no trips for me the last two years since I was the Wedding Planner. My cousin and some of her family in Texas came up for our baby girl’s wedding and this year her grandson got married so we went to help them celebrate.
While on this mini road trip I was blessed with an ‘aha’ moment and grabbed it! Some of you may know how difficult it can be to keep your fitness regime up when traveling, right? And even tho I had mentally prepared myself and made plans to work out at the hotel (definitely swim in their pool, indulge in marital benefits {c’mon, it’s a hotel!!}, and maybe use their workout room – I’ve never used gym equipment), go for a walk if time permitted, dance at the wedding reception, eat clean and make wise meal choices, it still was a bit difficult. We were out to a Chinese restaurant after attending Mass with my cousin and her husband becos that is what they do after church each week. I controlled my portions and didn’t have to ‘roll out’ of the restaurant like I often did before I changed my lifestyle – and yes, I admit still do once in a great great while! But the moment came when I opened up my fortune cookie and this is what my fortune said:
So I got this brilliant idea to come back home, reevaluate and have a fitness journey refocus. What I have decided to do is to work harder and smarter and eat cleaner so I can be more toned and lose inches by my birthday which is December 21. I’ve taken measurements and I intend to weigh in once a week. I’ve been wanting to get to a certain number on the scale but have been yo-yoing between 2 and 3 pounds and I’m tired of it. I believe if I tone up, I will be pleased at how my clothes will fit and I won’t feel the need to lose ten pounds.
One more thing. When I was tweeting last week a friend asked if I was going to post my progress. Well, the idea to blog about it popped into my head so this is what I’m going to do! Thank you, “Adam” lol I will check in a couple times a week to post the good, the bad and the ugly. Stay tuned!
