If you’ve been reading my blogs, you know that I usually work out to my Beachbody and a few other non Beachbody DVD‘s. And you might also know that this summer I’ve been taking a bit of a break from them and doing outside activities to get my heart rate up and get my exercise in. “Workouts” such as mowing my lawn – it takes us about 7 to 8 hours by push mower to complete – gardening and taking walks on our gravel road. You also know I’m an empty nester. I’ve come up with this – fishing is another empty nester workout. Ok, it doesn’t really get my heart racing except when there’s a fish on the hook 🙂 But it does burn calories.
Anyway, I just wanted to post about a new fishing experience for me….and no, it’s not a fish story! Mister and I have been fishing on his time off from work as a form of chillaxin’. I am not totally girlie when it comes to fishing. I can put my own worms on the hook and sometimes even get my own line unsnagged 🙂 But I’ve never ‘done up’ my own line after the snag comes out sans fish hook and weights. But I’ve been watching my husband do it for years now. Well, recently I was having a very disappointing run of unwanted snags and about the 3rd or 4th time of having to have my husband do it for me, I decided to ‘try’ it myself. I got the egg sinker on, the split shot, the swivel and the hook on all by myself. Proud moment! Granted, I did the knot a little different than what he did on the swivel, but it worked. Well, when it was time to reel in, I couldn’t. Why not? Cos when I had started the whole thing, I had the line on the wrong side of the reel. Duh! I was a bit embarrassed and that burst my happy bubble. But my sweet husband assured me he had done that many times, even after he knew how to do this right. (he’s such a good husband to me!)
Soooo, since the first time, I haven’t made that mistake again. And I even tie the knot the same as Mister. lol

I’m more of a fish eater than a catcher. Fun story, thanks!
I like to eat fish too, Robert. It’s a very healthy, yummy thing! But catching em is definitely funner lol
Fishing is very relaxing AND a good workout! Great activity!
Some of my most favorite childhood memories are of that in a boat on a lake with my mom & dad, cane pole in hand. Everyone should have a chance to fish at least once in their life!
I agree….everyone should do it at least once! Growing up in Hawaii, we used to fish right off the rocks with a cane pole. It was the most fun and I too have great memories 🙂
