That’s what I thought over 10 years ago when I came to a crossroads in my life – “I can’t lose weight.  I’m too old and this is just how it has to be”.  Little did I know!  In the 70’s and 80’s, I would try to work out at home.  But due to lack of knowledge, no guidance and no mentor, I didn’t know how to do it.  I did try diet pills and supplements, weight loss gadgets (that ultimately didn’t work – DUH!), workouts from fitness magazines and books.  I did various diets and went to the nearest gym class which was boring and intimidating to me.  I also used a few different videos (we’re talking VHS) but again, not knowing how to use them in a “program” I soon gave them up.  Then came the time when I was at my highest weight, not feeling very good about myself and feeling depressed and hopeless, I came across the Beachbody Power 90 infomercial.  It seemed to possess everything a person needed to get fit and healthy and it looked doable to me.  So I purchased it and was very impressed the very first week when my clothes started feeling looser.  I didn’t follow the daily P90 nutrition guide  that came with the program, but I did start to cut back on some junk foods that I loved!  I did follow the workouts to a tee and I think that helped a lot as I had not been working out at all prior to that.

I am not at my ‘ideal weight’ so now when I think “I can’t lose weight” (cos I’m on a plateau for too long or I overate for a couple days in a row), I just tell myself that’s simply not true.  I can –  I just have to remember that I’ve done it even when I thought I couldn’t and I can do it again.

If this is where you are at, then let me help you.  Together we can do this 🙂

We all have those moments when we think we can’t do something or that we have to settle for how things are, but that is never the case. We can make a change if we believe it! Thanks for the post!

Yep, all it takes is for us to change our thinking. Throw in belief and the world is ours for the taking! Thankx for stopping by, Kristen 🙂

sounds like me! i had all the “steal” videos, you know “abs of steel” “arms of steel” and i never seem to get anywhere with them and they were not fun! beachbody makes it more fun with the online community!! love beachbody!

Someone gave me Buns of Steel as a gift and I use it once in a while…it’s effective enough where it makes me sore! And it’s good to change it up once in a while. But you’re right, it’s not as fun as the Beachbody workouts 😀

maybe I will get the buns of steel out and give it a whirl to change things up again and for a good ole blast from the past!! thanks for the idea!

Thankx Khoa. I know exactly what you mean. I like to read about other people’s journeys and how much they’ve gone thru when I don’t feel like keeping on. I get motivated that way and then it’s all good again 🙂

So true, our self talk can sabotage us even before we started. Great that you pushed through.

    • wanaka June 8, 2012 at 1:46 pm #

I know, right Johan? I’ve done the sabotage thing too many times in my life. I’m glad I pushed thru too! 🙂

I can totally relate to your story! You are right, it wasn’t that you couldn’t lose weight. I am glad you found a solution. I did P90X a while ago and love it! Keep on bringing it! 🙂

I realized it was also a mindset, Marlon 🙂 What’s that saying about ‘when the student is ready’…….I was a ready student when I saw that infomercial.
