For years I tried to make this dish and it just wouldn’t taste the same as when Mom made it or when I would buy it (a lot!) while visiting my Maui home. Finally on one of my trips home, I asked Mom to show me how she made it. I found the secret! And I’m gonna share ‘chow fun – my version’ with you in case you want to make the dish. I sometimes will use flour noodles, sometimes egg noodles. Fun, or foon, I believe means noodles. Anyway, cook the noodles according to package instructions and set aside. While the noodles are cooking, stir fry ground pork (I’ve used hamburger or bacon bits in the past), shredded carrots, chopped green onion in olive oil and right before removing from fire, add bean sprouts. Season with garlic powder and set aside. In olive oil, warm the noodles and sprinkle won ton soup powder – or a packet of seasoning that comes in the ramen soup packages – onto the noodles. That is the secret to the taste!! When the powder is absorbed, combine the meat/veggie mixture to the noodles and you’re done. Sprinkle w/soy sauce and lots of pepper and yes, yumminess!
Enjoy!

I love chow fun! Thanks for the recipe!
You’re welcome, Steve. You can even use wheat noodles to make it even healthier 🙂
